Our Story

A passionate journey of Eco Tourism

and sustainable development

"At Wymara Villas we have an amazing 15 acres peninsula. As developer we have set out to retain the natural beauty while also giving guests access to all areas to enjoy.

On the west side of our property the ocean frontage was left unusable from when the marina access had been dredged many years ago. We have repurposed this area with a beautiful beach, ocean pool and grass area behind. Finding ways to continue to improve the site while creating more areas that can be shared with our guests is so rewarding."

Bruce Maclaren

Wymara visionary Bruce Maclaren was born and raised in Canada before moving to Australia in 1992 to further his studies. Upon graduation, he built a successful construction business completing contracts valued up to $20 million. His company was recognized by Business Review Weekly (BRW Magazine) as the 62nd fastest growing company in Australia and Bruce was a two-time finalist in Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year program. After visiting Turks & Caicos several times, he fell in love with the Caribbean’s laidback lifestyle and natural beauty. In 2008, Bruce relocated his family and partnered in the creation of what is now known as Wymara Resort + Villas.

A hands-on leader, Bruce is intimately involved in all aspects of the thriving hospitality business. In 2015, he acquired land for Wymara’s first villa project. He utilized his experiences of island living on North Stradbroke in Australia and Providenciales to imagine a stunning series of modern-design villas with shade, sun, trade winds, and ocean access carefully considered. Next, he set his sights on building a new beach and beach club for villa guests to enjoy. In 2023, he debuted the beautiful Sunset Cove Beach featuring the Caribbean’s first in-ocean pool.

Throughout his endeavors, Bruce is committed to supporting the environment and the local community of Turks & Caicos. He is the majority owner of Wymara Resort + Villas and thrives on showcasing the beautiful island of Turks & Caicos to guests from around the world.

A Commitment To Sustainable Development

Wymara Resort + Villas understands our environment and picture-perfect ocean and beaches are part of what keeps attracting new visitors to our beautiful islands, and keep many guests returning year after year to our resort and villas. It is our mission to protect our home, our reef (being the third largest in the world!) and marine life, while playing our part in protecting the planet for generations to come.
